So over the past six seasons LOST has given us many questions. And so far, not all of them have been answered. I found a list somewhere before this past season started with all the questions that have not been answered from Seasons 1-5, and now every week after LOST, I go over that list to see if we’ve got anything. We’ve gotten some good answers, and some “whaaa? that’s it?” answers, but hey, an answer is an answer. Going to post the questions and answers (if there is one) here. Because I’m bored today.

LOST Unanswered Questions

The Island

• Was Locke really healed by the Island? Or was he healed by Jacob or the Man in Black?
• Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, and Michael once saw an enormous green-colored bird swoop out of a tree towards them and Hurley thought that the bird said his name (right before it “crapped gold” according to Sawyer). What kind of bird was this and did it really say Hurley’s name? We got this answer in the Season 6 DVD Set!! Apparently this bird was a product of Dharma Research. Something to do with Dodo Birds. FINALLY! AN ANSWER!
  
• Were there any permanent consequences to the Island when the Swans failsafe was activated and the sky turned purple? Was the electromagnetic pocket of energy beneath the Island destroyed by the failsafe or made dormant?
• What does the frozen wheel do, mechanically speaking, to make the Island move? Does it access the electromagnetic energy pocket somehow? What’s behind the wheel that generated the bright yellow light? Why is it so cold in the underground chamber where the Island moving wheel is housed? The wheel looks like a man-made device, so who made it and put it there? (These two parts got answered, the bright yellow light is apparently what is “in every man” and good old MiB put the light there, or at least came up with the plan. 05/12/10)
• Since turning the wheel beneath the Orchid Station sends one to the Tunisian desert, it stands to reason that the polar bear Charlotte found in Tunisia wearing a Dharma Initiative collar must also have turned the wheel at some point and that’s how it wound up there. What and when wer the circumstances surrounding the polar bear that turned the wheel and moved the Island? Who was responsible for this and why?
• Why were the Oceanic survivors, the Freighter folk, and Juliet affected by the Islands time jumps, yet the Others were not?
• Why was Sun left behind in the present on Ajira 316, when all of the other Oceanic 6 were transported through time to the past?
• Why would the Island let Ben come back after he left, but not Widmore? Well, the Island did let Widmore come back. He just had to get crafty.
• Who built the Tunnels under the Island? Do the Tunnels run all over (under) the Island? What else is down there?

Jacob and the Man in Black

• Who is Jacob and how did he come to be on the Island? (Jacob is the keeper of that light thing, and the protector of the Island until his death. He came to the Island when his mother crashed there pregnant with him and then gave birth to him and his brother a few hours or days later. He was raised by a crazy surrogate mother. 05/12/10)
• Who is the Man in Black, a.k.a. Jacob’s Nemesis? (MiB is Jacobs twin brother, who just wants to leave the Island and go home, the home he was told of by his birth mother. 05/12/10)
• How did the Man in Black come to be on the Island? (He came to the Island when his mother crashed there pregnant with him and then gave birth to him and his brother a few hours or days later. He was raised by a crazy surrogate mother. 05/12/10)
• What is the nature of Jacob and the Man in Blacks yin/yang – type relationship? And why can’t they kill each other? (They are brothers, one the protector of the Island and one trying to leave. Their relationship is strained because of Jacob not allowing him to leave the Island and MiB’s actual death. They can’t kill each other because their adoptive mother made it so they could never harm each other. 05/12/10)
• Can Jacob see the future?
• Jacob is apparently responsible for bringing everyone to the Island that gets to it. How does Jacob bring people to the Island? (This one seems to have been partially answered, with the names on the dial at the Lighthouse, and when you stop on the number next to their name, you see an image in the mirror. This could possibly be part of the process. I counted out the names scratched out at the caves, because that could possibly be MiB territory.)
• Why did Jacob touch so many of the castaways in the past? Why did he choose them and what did his touch cause to happen? Is he the reason they escaped the crash of Oceanic 815 unharmed? (This one could possibly be a partial answer, with his touch made them a candidate.)
• Did Jacob touch anyone else in the same way?
• Why did Jacob give Hurley a guitar case to bring back to the Island? What’s inside it? (This one was answered, it was a large wooden ankh with a note inside it, telling the Temple Others their names and of their importance, it was what got them into the Temple.)
• Why does the Man in Black want to kill Jacob? (I think this one was answered in the Richard episode, he wants to kill him because as long as Jacob is alive, the MiB can’t get off the Island.)
• If Jacob hasn’t been living in the cabin, who has? The Man in Black? Is this who Ben and Locke encountered the day they visited the cabin?
• How did the Man in Black take on Locke’s form? Can he assume the form of anyone if he wants, or does it have to be through a dead person?
• What all did the Man in Black “go through” to get to Jacob?
• Who is Jacob referring to when he warned the Man in Black that “they’re coming”? (This might be answered with it being Ilana and Co., but I’m not sure, so I haven’t marked this off as answered.)
• Who or what is Christian Shephard? Does he really speak for Jacob, or is he an instrument of the Man in Black? (We got this one last night [04/20/10], Christian Shephard was the MiB. Knew it!)

The Smoke Monster

• What is the Smoke Monster? (I think this is another partial answer, Smokie is the MiB. But as to what he is in smoke form, I got nothin’.)
• Is the Monster technological or supernatural? (As of last night’s episode he looked pretty damn supernatural to me. 05/12/10)
• Why does the Monster kill certain people — like Mr. Eko, Captain Norris of Oceanic 815, and Nadine of the French Science Expedition — while leaving others it encounters alive? What’s different about those it kills?
• The Monster sometimes calls up images of people’s pasts before it passes judgment on them. How is the Monster able to do this?
• What exactly happened to Montand and the other Frenchmen beneath the Temple? Did the Monster change them, as Danielle believed? Did it kill them and take their place?
• How did draining the water out of that tiny hole below Ben’s house summon the Smoke Monster? Who built the Monster-summoning hole there to begin with?
• Since we’ve seen other dead people (like Locke) on the Island before, such as Alex Rousseau, Yemi, who very likely were the Smoke Monster taken human form, does this mean that the Man in Black is the Smoke Monster? Could they be one and the same? (Hey, we got the answer to this one! Straight from MiB’s mouth! And seeing FLocke turn into Smokie.)

The Egyptian Statue

• Why are there Egyptian-style hieroglyphs all over the Island? Who put them there?
• Why was an enormous state of an Egyptian fertility goddess (Tawaret) erected on the Island? And why did Jacob choose to live beneath it? Did Jacob build it, or was someone else responsible? When was it built and how was it destroyed? (Well, we know it was destroyed by the Black Rock smashing into it on a big wave, but that’s it)
• Is there a link between the Exit’s location in Tunisia and the Island’s Egyptian influences?

The “Adam and Eve” Skeletons

• Who are the Adam and Eve Skeletons? Are they characters we know? (Okay this hasn’t been answered yet, but we got a question from Hurley about them. Anyone else think that they’re Bernard and Rose from 1970′s? Looks like they’re the Original MiB and Jacob and his crazy Mama. We know them, but only sort of. Adam we have known for a few seasons, Eve we just met last night, and saw her die. 05/12/10)
• How did they die? Was it, as the castaways guessed, 40 or 50 years ago? (MiB died by going into the Light and Smokie took over, Eve died by being stabbed through the gut by MiB. And it was waaaaaay more than 40 or 50 years ago. Looks like Jack got that one wrong. 05/12/10)
• Why was one of them carrying 2 stones, one white and one black? (Jacob put the two stones from the game they had played all their lives together in the pouch with Adam. 05/12/10)

The Numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42)

• Are the numbers really cursed? Do they have power?
• Who sent the transmission from the Island heard by Leonard Simms and Sam Toomey at the Navy listening post in the Pacific? And why?

The Whispers

• What are the Whispers? (We got that one last night, courtesy of Michael. The Whispers are the dead people trapped on the Island. Ironic that Michael, who was known for all his “WAAAAAAALT!” calls is now reduced to a Whisper-er.)
• The Whispers always seem to proceed an appearance by the Others or the Smoke Monster. What’s the connection?

The Black Rock

• How did the Black Rock get beached so far inland on the Island? (We got that one. The same massive wave that helped the Black Rock take out the Statue was the one that beached it so far in.)
• A journal belonging to the Black Rock’s first mate found its way to Madagascar after the ship wrecked on the Island. How did it get there?
• Tovard Hanso found to Black Rock journal in Madagascar and kept its contents secret for over a century. Is this journal how Alvar Hanso found out about the Island and decided to send the Dharma Initiative there?
• Why did the Hanso family suddenly decide to sell the Black Rock journal in 1996 after years of keeping it a family secret?
• Richard Alpert constructed a model of a ship in a bottle that looked like the Black Rock. Does he have a connection to the Black Rock? Was he one of the crew-members? (We got this answer. He was a slave being transported in the hold of the Black Rock.)

The Incident

• Does “The Incident” refer to the electromagnetic pocket being breached or the hydrogen bomb being detonated? Or both?
• What happened when Juliet detonated the hydrogen bomb? Did it reset time? Did it destroy the Island?
• How did Richard watch Jack, Kate, Hurley, Jin, Sawyer, Juliet, and Miles, die? Did he witness the hydrogen bomb explosion?

The Temple

• What is the purpose of the Temple? What happens there? Is it for worshipping someone or something? (We sort of learned this one. It is refuge and healing, so far.)
• Who built the Temple and when?
• Why is the Temple a secret to be kept from outsiders?
• What happened to young Ben when Richard carried him inside the Temple? Why did it cause Ben’s memory to be erased and his innocence to be lost? (We can figure that he was dipped in the pool a few times, but as to the memory and innocence, I got nothin’. Looks to me that what happened to them was the Light affected them and made them different. 05/12/10)

The Purge

• Why did the Others wipe out the Dharma Initiative? Relations between the two groups were always tense, but what pushed the Others to take an action as extreme as massacre?

The Dharma Initiative

• Does the Dharma Initiative still exist today off the Island? Okay, again with the special features on the Season Six DVD Set, we see Dharma Workers in it… getting disbanded.
• Who is the “very clever fellow” working for the Dharma Initiative who figured out how to find the Island and built the Lamp Post Station?
• Is it mere coincidence that the Dharma Initiative built the Barracks over the place where the Others buried the hydrogen bomb?

The Dharma Food Drops

• Who made the Dharma food drops? We saw Dharma workers prepping a food palette in the Season Six DVD extras.
• How often do the food drops take place?
• The Swan Station went into lockdown mode coinciding with the timing of the food drop. Why would the Swan need to be locked down when a food drop was being conducted?
• Locke suggested that the Swan was locked down so that the Dharma workers couldn’t see who was dropping the food palette. Is this the reason for the lockdown? If so, why would the source of the food drop want to remain anonymous?
• Was Eko right about the salted circle on the ground above the Pearl Station being made a visible target for planes to see? Could the circle be the intended target of the Dharma food drops?

Island Pregnancy

• What’s causing pregnant women to die on the Island?
• Amy Goodspeed was able to carry her baby to full term and deliver successfully, so the problem got started after 1977. When did the pregnancy problem start? (I used to think it was when the Statue was destroyed, but that theory’s thrown out the window!)

The Volcano

• Where is the Island’s volcano?
• When in the Island’s past did it erupt?
• Is the volcano now dormant?

Claire

• According to psychic Richard Malkin, “danger surrounds” Aaron and he requires her protection and influence as he grows. Why? What did Malkin see in Claire’s reading? What was so dire about Aaron’s future that Malkin would go to extreme lengths to arrange for Claire to be on Oceanic 815 to ensure that she alone would raise her son?
• Why was Miles so interested in Claire? Did Something about her set off his abilities as a medium? Is Claire dead, having not survived the explosion of her house at the Barracks?
• What’s become of Claire? Why did she go with Christian to Jacob’s cabin and leave her baby behind? (We now know what happened to Claire, she’s become Dark Claire, and was on the Island for three years alone, like Rousseau 2.0, and tortured in the Temple a little. And befriended by the MiB, who made her believe that the Others had Aaron. I don’t think we know about why she went with Christian.)
• Why didn’t Christian want Locke to tell anybody he saw Claire at the Cabin? Why does Claire’s status need to be kept a secret?
• Why did Claire tell Kate not to bring Aaron back to the Island?

Richard Alpert

• How and when did Richard originally come to the Island? (He came by the Black Rock in the year 1867.)
• What did Jacob do to Richard to cause him to stop aging? (They made a deal, and in return, Jacob, with his I guess we’d call ‘em powers, made him ageless.)
• How old is Richard? (Well, I don’t know the exact math here, but he looked to be in his mid-thirties, early forties in 1867, so about 180, give or take a few years, I think. I’m no good at math, so if you want to correct me, go ahead.)

Libby

• Why was Libby a patient at Santa Rosa Mental Hospital? (Well, if we go with the why from the Alt. timeline, she checked herself in for delusions.)
• Why did Libby hide the fact that she was at Santa Rosa from Hurley — and that she remembered him from there? Did she have ulterior motives for her budding relationship with him?
• Was Desmond’s chance encounter with Libby really so random? She was awfully trusting and willing to believe in a man she didn’t know and give him her husbands boat. Was there more to this meeting than it seems?

Ilana

• Who is Ilana? What is her history with Jacob? (Ilana was around to protect the candidates, and Jacob was the closest thing she ever had to a father.)
• What happened to Ilana in the past that gave her a severe head wound? How did she fully recover? Jacob?
• What did Jacob need Ilana’s help with? (To protect the candidates.)

Pierre Chang

• Why does Dr. Chang go by a different name in every Dharma Orientation video?
• Chang selected the site of the Orchid Station based on his knowledge of the pocket’s “unlimited power” beneath the site. How did he know ahead of time where to build the Orchid?
• Did Chang recognized the wooden wheel buried beneath the Orchid Station when he saw it on the sonar? Does he know what it is and who put it there?
• Is Pierre Chang really dead in the present? Did he die on the Island? Did he die in the Purge?

Eloise Hawking

• How is Eloise able to know the future?
• Why was Eloise in a photo on Brother Campbell’s desk? How do they know each other?
• What did Eloise mean when she said the Island “isn’t finished yet” with Desmond?
• Why would Eloise send her son to the Island knowing he would die by her own hand? What could be so vitally important to the fate of the Island that Eloise would sacrifice her own son to see it done?
• Eloise said to Penny, “For the first time in a long time, I don’t know what’s going to happen next.” If she’s able to see the future, why has she suddenly lost that ability?

Charles Widmore

• If Matthew Abaddon is the reason Locke went to Australia for his walkabout and Abaddon works for Widmore… does this mean that Widmore knew Oceanic 815 was going to crash on the Island and he arranged for Locke to be on it?
• The Oceanic Airlines employees take orders from Widmore. Does he own Oceanic?
• Charles Widmore knew of Paik Industries and even mentioned that he played golf regularly with Sun’s father. Are these two powerful men merely business associates or do they share a deeper connection?

Sayid’s Vendetta

• Who is responsible for Nadia’s death? Widmore? Ben? Was it just a random crime?
• Who was the man stationed outside of Santa Rosa Mental Institute waiting for Hurley? Who did he work for?
• Who were the men waiting at Sayid’s hotel room, intent on killing him and Hurley? Who did they work for?

Miscellaneous

• How is Walt “different”? What’s the extent of his abilities?
• What became of Ben’s childhood friend Annie? Was she killed during the Purge or had she left the Island by then?
• Harper insinuated that Juliet was favored by Ben because she “looked just like her.” Which “her” was Harper referring to? Ben’s mother? His childhood friend Annie? (I’ve checked around, most people say she has a resemblance to Annie.)
• If Frank Lapidus was originally supposed to be the pilot of Oceanic 815, why was he replaced by Seth Norris? (He overslept that morning. Island got him anyways.)

And there you go. All the unanswered questions from the list I found. I can’t remember the name of the blog it was on, but if anyone knows, please tell me. I want to give proper credit. Until I can find out, mystery blogger, my OCD nature loved how your list was all divided in categories and everything in them seemed pretty chronological. You rock!

Update 04/21/10: We got one more answer last night in The Last Recruit, slowly getting there! Christian was a form of Smokie. I’ve been saying that since he made noises that sounded smoke monster like back in Season 1 Episode 4 The White Rabbit.

THE END:

So we start with a montage of both the Alternate Timeline and the Original Island Timeline. Christian Shephard’s coffin has finally arrived at LAX, Jack in his office looking at Locke’s x-rays, Jack washing his face in the Island river, Ben and FLocke at the well, Locke being wheeled into pre-op, James in the police station locker room looking into the mirror he smashed earlier, Sawyer checking Kate’s gunshot wound, Kate in a car at the church, and Desmond heading over to where Christian’s coffin is being delivered.

So in the Alternate Timeline, Desmond walks over to the Oceanic delivery truck, where the courier is delivering the coffin of Christian Shephard. They have a quick conversation about the deceased and relationships. He then walks back over to the car with Kate, who finds it funny that the name of the deceased is Christian Shephard. Yes Kate, it’s hilarious. She asks him why they’re there, and he tells her no one can tell her that; then she asks who he is and what he wants. “My name is Desmond Hume. I’m your friend. And as for what I want, I want to leave.” Kate  just sits there confused and annoyed.

And then we’re over to the Island. Jack is still standing in that river, and Sawyer comes over to check on him. Neither Jack nor Sawyer really knows what went on with Jacob last night, and Jack really doesn’t feel any different. So they go over to A-Team council with Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, and Jack. They talk about what they’re going to do, what Jacob wanted. Jacob anted them to go and protect the Heart of the Island (you know, the glowy cave with the light.), Jack thinks the way to protect it might have something to do with Desmond. They’re not totally sure about what Jacob wants, since as Hurley says, “He’s worse than Yoda.” So they decide that Sawyer will head off to find Desmond, and Jack, Kate, and Hurley will head off to the Heart of the Island (hereby known as H.o.I. I’m lazy.) Sawyer tells Kate that he’d invite her along with him, but then she wouldn’t get to sneak after him. She responds with she’s gonna just have to try to resist sneaking along. Awwww, throwback to old times! As Sawyer walks away, Hurley states that he has a bad feeling about all of this. Yeah, I’m right there with ya buddy. And then we see the LOST fly-in for the last *sniff* time *sniff*.

Back over to the Alternate Timeline. Hugo and Sayid are in Hugo’s Hummer headed to a motel. Hugo wants to know if this rings any bells for Sayid. Like in the Season 5 premier. When Sayid took Hurley to his “safe” hotel room and got shot up with a tranq gun. After killing a guy on a dishwasher filled with knives sticking straight up. Sayid doesn’t really remember anything though. Sayid wants to know what will happen if he doesn’t stay with Hugo. Hugo tells him it’s his choice, but he’ll be much happier if he sticks with him. So Hugo picks up his tranq gun and heads to a room at the motel, leaving Sayid in the Hummer. He knocks on the door of the motel room, and who opens it by LSK’s least favorite rocker, Charlie Pace! Who has been doing nothing but drinking and trashing the room. Probably some other stuff too… seeing as this is the guy who swallowed a baggie o’ drugs on the Alt. Flight 815. Hugo just stands there smiling for a minute, since he’s happy to see his Island buddy alive again. He tells Charlie he’s here to pick him up for the show. Charlie tells him it ain’t happening and when he turns his back, Hugo shoots him with the tranq gun. Um, can I have that job Hugo? He picks him up and takes him to the Hummer and throws him in back.

Back over to everybody’s favorite Island! Jack, Kate, and Hurley are heading to H.o.I., and Kate asks why Jack took the job. Jack says that “HE’S GOT NOWHERE ELSE TO GO!!” I mean… um, the Island is the only thing he hasn’t screwed up yet. Kate tries to convince him that he can still start over, nothing is permanent. Hurley walks by muttering that the whole exchange between the two of them would be sweet, except he thinks they’re all gonna die.

So on another part of the Island, Sawyer has found FLocke and Ben by the well and is watching them, until Ben and his shotgun find him and invite him to join their little group. Sawyer informs FLocke that he is here to help Desmond out of the well, but it looks like someone beat both of them to that. Sawyer guesses that FLocke needs Desmond for his evil plan to destroy the Island, “and then what Smokie?” Yay! Reference to all of us and our name for the Smoke Monster! He doesn’t really see FLocke as the “Die For The Island” type. FLocke tells him that there ain’t no way that he’s going down with this rock, but intends to sail off into the sunset in his boat. Oh, and Sawyer and all them other Candidates are going to be going down with said rock. Sawyer lets him know that they aren’t Candidates anymore, the job has been filled. And then he puts a beatdown on Ben ONE LAST TIME *sniff*, and heads off. Ben is pissed at FLocke for telling him earlier that he’ll get the Island when FLocke leaves, since FLocke neglected to mention that the Island was gonna be on the bottom of the ocean. FLocke tells him he’s welcome to join him on the boat to sail off. And then announces that he thinks a dog was at the well.

And in yet another part of the Island, we see Vincent! He heads over to where Desmond is sleeping at a camp, and then we see Rose and Bernard!! Yay! They survived the Incident!!! Bernard heads off to check the traps for fish with Vincent, while Rose informs Desmond that while they’re happy to see him, he’s gonna have to eat and run. They have a rule, Don’t Get Involved. They broke the rule to save him, and don’t want to have anything bad happen, or have a nasty run-in with FLocke. And hey speak of the devil, look who pops up with Bernard! FLocke and Ben! FLocke tells Desmond that unless he comes with him, he’s gonna kill Rose and Bernard, and make it hurt. Um, UNCOOL FLocke!!!! Desmond makes a deal with him that as long as he doesn’t hurt them ever, he’ll come with him. FLocke agrees, and off they go, trekking to H.o.I. Desmond doesn’t know where they’re headed, but he assumes there’s a bright light there. As they’re walking, Ben’s walkie squawks, FLocke wants to know what the noise was, and Ben does his best to play it off as nothing, quickly turning off the walkie.

Then we see who made the walkie squawk. Miles! He’s found Richard in the jungle, and alive! They’re going to be heading over to Hydra Island to complete what they started. You know, the whole Blow Up The Plane So FLocke Can’t Escape plan.

Back in the Alternate World, Miles has shown up at the concert at his dad’s museum, and who does he see in the bright yellow Hummer but fugitive Sayid. He calls James and tells him that he spotted Sayid, and made sure by calling County Lockup, who said that Sayid Jarrah never arrived. James gets worried, since there’s still our witnesses of his shooting, Sun Paik and Jin Soo Kwon. You know, from that whole deal with Martin Christopher Keamy. You know, this guy:

He makes good eggs

Sorry. I gotta throw my Keamy in where I can. So Miles and James hang up, and James heads over to the hospital to protect Sun and Jin. Whatever the cost!

And at the hospital, Sun is waking up. Jin sees and is relieved. He tells her that both her and their baby are fine, yay! And they’re going to send over a baby doctor to check on the two of them (Sun and the baby). Gee, I wonder who this doctor will be? It couldn’t be a certain blond who loved Sawyer in another life? The same certain blond who obviously is Jack’s baby mama in this world? And in walks:

Hey look! We all were right. It’s Juliet! Except in this world she’s Dr. Juliet Carlson. She’s there to check the baby, and she’ll speak slowly to the two of them since it’s no English at the moment. So she checks the baby out and all the sudden Sun flashes to the Island! AND SHE REMEMBERS EVERYTHING! AND JIN FLASHES TOO! HE REMEMBERS TOO!!! OMG IT’S THE FREIGHTER! THEIR REUNION!! OMG NO IT’S THE SUBMARINE!! *sniff* They’re all weepy and happy, and hey, they can speak English again. And Juliet tells them that their baby is “perfectly perfect in every way.” Awwwwww. She asks if they want to know if it’s a boy or a girl, but they already know it’s gonna be a girl, and they’re gonna name her Ji-Yeon.

Okay, we’re back to the Island. Sawyer is running like mad through the jungle to get back to the rest of the A-Team and warn them. Warn them that they’re all headed to the same place. And when they meet up, it’s all gonna end.

And right back on over to Alternate Reality-ville. Dr. Jack Shephard is over in pre-op talking with Locke. Jack is confident that this operation will work and Locke will walk again. He tells Locke he’ll see him on the Other Side, and Locke asks if they ever found his father’s coffin. Jack tells him that it’s been found and probably has been delivered by now. Locke hopes it brings him peace, and Jack tells him that fixing him is all the peace he needs.

Okay so back to the Island. Richard and Miles reach the boat at the dock and are getting ready to haul ass to Hydra when Miles makes a discovery. Richard has his first gray hair!! And because of that he’s just discovered that he wants to LIVE! So they take off to Hydra and come upon all that sub wreckage. *sniff* Jin, Sun, and Sayid. *sniff* And then they hear someone shouting from the water. OMG IT’S LAPIDUS!!! HE’S ALIVE! HE DIDN’T DIE IN THE SUB!!! YAY!!! They pull him into their boat and tell him about their plan to blow up the plane and stop FLocke. Lapidus points out that they could just fly the plane off the Island without FLocke. He wouldn’t be able to leave then. And Lapidus is a pilot, ya know. Soooo… looks like they’re leaving the Island!

Meanwhile, back on the Island, Team Jack and Team FLocke meet up and Kate starts shooting at FLocke because he killed Sun, Jin, and Sayid. Yeah… honey, those bullets won’t work on him right now. So Jack and FLocke talk, and they decide that they’re all gonna head off to the H.o.I. together. Jack informs FLocke that the spot he’s heading to is his sworn to protect territory, so he’s gonna kill FLocke, effectively stopping him from destroying the Island. Ever.

So in the Alternate Reality we see Dr. Jack Shephard and Dr. Juliet Carlson meet up with the whole “doctor.” “doctor.” thing. And then Jack passes her the tickets for the concert. And then we find out what we all knew from the first episode of this season. Jack’s baby mama, the mother of David Shephard, is Juliet. And they’re gonna take Claire with them to the concert since Jack can’t go. And as they walk out, James walks in, ready to save Sun.

Back to the Island. They’re all walking to the H.o.I. and Sawyer is asking Jack how he’s gonna kill FLocke. Jack thinks he can use Desmond for that. Then FLocke announces that from this point on it’s only gonna be Desmond, Jack, and him, so off they go, while Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, and Ben wait behind. As they leave, Hurley shouts out, “I believe in you dude!” to Jack. Awwww. So they get to the glowing cave aka H.o.I. and Desmond is informed that he’s going to be lowered into that light. Desmond tells Jack that none of what they’re doing matters, because when he goes into the light he’ll go into another world where everyone he loves is there and he’s happy. And Jack is in this world too, and he’s even happy. This thought completely baffles our Jack, who tells him that the Island is the only thing that matters, and there are no shortcuts. So they all head into the cave of light.

So back in the alternate world, we see Hugo and Sayid in the Hummer outside a bar. Sayid is still questioning Hugo, and Hugo is telling him that he knows him better than he thinks, and that Sayid is in fact a good guy. Sayid tells Hugo that he doesn’t know him at all. So we hear some guy getting the crap kicked out of him, and a familiar voice shouting “Leave my brother alone!” before we see a girl getting pushed aside. Sayid is out of the Hummer in a flash, pushing the guy away, getting him off said brother, and heading over to help the girl. Who turns out to be:

Shannon?!

And all the sudden they have flashes to the Island and each other. Shannon was Sayid’s constant? Are you freaking kidding me? WHAT ABOUT NADIA?!??!?!?! And then BOONE!!! walks over to Hugo’s Hummer to tell him just how much of a PITA it was to get Shannon over here from Australia. But it definitely was worth it, according to Hugo, to see the happy reunion. Um, speak for yourself there buddy.

So back on the Island Kate and Ben and Hurley and Sawyer are all waiting for Jack to come back. Miles finally gets through to Ben, and informs him to get himself and anyone else over to Hydra, they’re getting off this rock asap. Then Miles and Richard and Lapidus run into Claire on Hydra, who believes they have all come to kill her as to the orders of FLocke. They try to convince her to leave with them, but she refuses.

In the H.o.I. Desmond is prepping to go into the light. As FLocke and Jack lower him, FLocke tries to reminisce on the Season 1 finale and Season 2 premier, where they were all about going into the hatch, and how if there was a button down at the bottom, they could argue about pushing it. This does not go over well with Jack, who informs FLocke that he is nothing like Locke. He disrespects Locke by wearing his face, but he is nothing like him. Yeah Jack! He also wishes he could tell Locke that he was right about everything. Which pisses FLocke off, who tells him that Locke was wrong about everything.

Back in the world of alternates, Juliet, Claire, and David show up at the concert, and Juliet gets paged away fast, so it’s just Claire and David. Backstage, Charlotte wakes up Charlie, asking if he’s with the band. Charlie tries to get all flirty on her and ask her how she knew, and she shuts him down and holds up the sign that was on him. Nice try loser. As Charlie walks away, Charlotte runs into Daniel, Daniel Widmore. Awwwwww, it’s sweet. And so weird that he ALWAYS wears the exact same thing. Back at the seating area, David and Claire make their way to Table 23, where their seatmates are Desmond and Kate. Dr. Chang welcomes everyone to the concert and introduces Daniel and Drive Shaft. They start playing music, and then Charlie spots Claire at her table and stares at her like the creeper he is until Claire decides to start having contractions to get away from the creep. She runs off to the bathroom and Kate decides it might be a good idea to follow… Charlie decides to follow too. Creep.

In the H.o.I., Desmond has reached the bottom, and he steps into the pool where the light is strongest. Electromagnetic energy isn’t working too nice with Desmond this time, he’s in pain as he walks through the pool, and has the nosebleed. But he makes it to the plug and pulls it out, causing the water to drain, the glowing yellow light to go out and be replaced by a dark, dull red light. Not a good sign. And Desmond, who believed this would get him to the other side is still there… man can’t win. Up above, FLocke tells Jack he was wrong and walks out of the cave. Jack follows him and sacks him, punching him and drawing blood.

Looks like FLocke was wrong too! And then FLocke knocks Jack out with a rock and runs.

Back in the other world, Claire’s definitely in labor and Kate’s going to be delivering the baby. Okay, I have never given birth, so I don’t know this, but um? She went from one contraction to labor pretty fast… Am I the only one who questions there? Oh well, they need it to be dramatic and all. Out at the concert, Eloise talks to Desmond. She’s a little pissed, because she told Desmond to stay out of all this. And then we see that she’s mostly worried that he’s going to take her son from her. Desmond assures her that while he’s leaving, he’s not going to take Daniel with him. She’s relieved. Back with Claire, it’s getting to that point, and Charlie decides to show up, Kate sends him off for hot water and blankets. Then she gets ready to deliver the baby and all the sudden all of this has given her a flash to the Island. She remembers everything! She flashed on that? Really… um, okay. Just a little weird. And as the little boy is born (reborn?) Claire has  herself a flash too. Charlie comes back with blankets for Aaron, and he has flashes too. Awwww, it’d be a tender moment with any other guy around. Desmond comes over and Kate thanks him for getting her back, helping her. She wants to know what’s next.

Back on the Island, Ben, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley are waiting for Jack to come back and the ground starts shaking. Then all of the sudden a tree starts to fall and Ben pushes Hurley out of the way AND OMG THE TREE FALLS ON BEN!!!!! NOOOOOOOO! GET IT OFF HIM! HE CAN’T DIE!!! BEN CAN’T DIE!!!! SAVE HIM!!!!!! MLJFOISDMKDFNKDSNFFDMKSD!!!!

Jack wakes up and runs into the cave, trying to reach Desmond, but he can’t, so he takes off in another direction, while everyone else tries to get the tree off Ben. SAVE HIM!!!!! Miles radios over and tells them they’re fixing the plane and have an hour to get off the Island, so get over here soon. Sawyer: “Son of a BITCH!” *sniff* I’m gonna miss that line. *sniff* Ben tells him they can get to Hydra by FLocke’s boat. SO GET HIM OUT FROM UNDER THE TREE AND GOOOOOO!!!!

Speaking of FLocke, he’s sneering over his boat in the water, ready to leave, when Jack shows up after him. See, if you’d have gone to said boat instead of grin evilly at it from above, you might have gotten off. But Jack Falcon Punches FLocke. They fight, and OMG FLOCKE STABS JACK!!!!! ARRRRRRGH!! NOOOO! Of course, then he makes that fatal bad guy error by telling Jack he just wanted him to know that he died for nothing. Ahhh, FLocke, doing the classic bad guy stop before the kill thing was stupid. A gunshot rings out, and Kate shouts “I saved you a bullet!” YAY KATE!!!! You did it this time!!!!! Jack kicks him off the cliffs and into the water. And with that FLocke, MiB, Smokey, and any other name you ever called him, is dead. Wow. That’s a moment.

So in the alternate timeline, Locke is being wheeled to his room after the surgery, and the nurse points out that Jack is bleeding from the neck. Right at the spot where FLocke attempted to kill him on the Island. Locke is awake early and Jack is talking with him, telling him they won’t be able to tell anything quite yet, but um, Locke can already feel his legs and wiggle his toes! Yay, the surgery worked. As he wiggles his toes, he has the flashes back to his time on the Island, and Jack has a small flash too, but he just shakes it off. Jack says he has to go see his son, but Locke, who is now fully remembering everything, tells him that he doesn’t have a son. Which kinda ticks Jack off. Before he leaves, Locke tells him, “I hope someone does for you what you just did for me.”

Back on the cliffs at the Island, Kate is helping Jack and worrying about the gash on his side, he tells her he’s fine, “just find me some thread and I’ll count to five.” Awwwww, memories from the Pilot episode. Sawyer, Hurley, and Ben show up (phew, they saved Ben.), and Jack tells them it’s over. Except for the fact that the Island is still shaking and stuff. Still gotta fix what Desmond did in H.o.I.

Back in the other world. James comes in and checks on Sun and Jin, who both tell him that they’re fin and safe. Before they leave the room, they tell James that they’ll see him there. Thoroughly confused and frustrated, James shouts out “See me where?!”

Back to the Island. Or Hydra, in this case. They’re quickly fixing the plane to get them the hell off the Island as fast as possible. The hydraulics are messed up still, so Lapidus hands Miles and Richard duct tape and a page from the manual and tells them to get it fixed. Ben radios to see where they are and get hurrying along. Jack tells them that they need to leave now, while he has to go fix what Desmond did. Ben and Hurley decide to stay with Jack, so they all bid farewell to Sawyer and Kate. *sniff*. And for the first time in ever, a Jate moment makes me get all teary-eyed. They tell each other they love each other and Jack goes back to the cave. Excuse me for a moment while I cry.

Okay, back.

Miles and Richard are racing to fix the plane, Richard asks if it will work, and Miles responds, “I don’t believe in a lot of things, but I do believe in duct tape.” As the ground gives a violent shake, they get the hydraulics fixed. Sawyer is radioing over and Lapidus tells him that they’re getting off the Island while there’s still ground to get off of, so if they want on, they’re gonna have to hurry. Sawyer and Kate decide that the best thing they can do is jump and swim to the boat, so off they go.

In the hospital over in Alternate Reality, James is leaving the hospital, but decides he’s hungry, so he asks Jack where he can get some food. Jack tells him the cafeteria’s closed, but there are some vending machines nearby, and James responds, “Thanks Doc.” As Jack walks away James has a moment of, “where does this seem familiar from?” While fighting with the vending machine to get his candy bar, Juliet walks in and tells him that unplugging and plugging in the machine tends to work better. He does it and the candy bar, of course an Apollo Bar, drops down. Juliet hands it to him, and as their hands touch, they both have flashes! Juliet says, “We should get coffee sometime. We could go Dutch.” Awwwww, her last lines from LA X as Juliet Burke. *sniff* And it’s just a happy, happy moment. They’re hugging and kissing and crying and it’s sweet!

At the concert, Jack gets there a little too late, and Kate is there to tell him it ended. He’s trying to place where he’s seen her before and she tells him that she stole his pen back in the Season 6 premier on the plane. But that’s not really where he remembers her from. He has more brief flashes, and is a little freaked, while Kate tells him that she’s missed him so much. And since he doesn’t really know what’s going on, coming with her will explain everything.

Back on the Island Jack, Hurley, and Ben have made it back to the cave. Hurley tells Jack that he can’t go down there alone, since Desmond didn’t take it too well, how can Jack, in his beat up state, survive? And then we see it dawn on Hurley… he doesn’t intend to make it out alive. No, no, no, no, no. Hurley starts crying. Doesn’t he know that whenever he cries I cry?!?! Excuse me a minute. . . . Okay, thanks. So Hurley agrees to take over the ruler of the Island job for Jack, but it’s only temporary. Ben hands Jack an old Oceanic Airlines water bottle. He fills it with water and gives it to Hurley to drink, although he forgot the magic words… But apparently now Hurley is like Jack.

As this is going on, over on Hydra Island, Lapidus tries the plane engines again, and this time they work! They’re in business! BUT WAIT FOR SAWYER AND KATE!!!! YOU CAN’T LEAVE THEM! Man, I thought it was sucky to get to my gate at Memphis Airport to see my plane for BWI and home taxing down the runway without me on it… think what it would be like for Sawyer and Kate.

Ben and Hurley are lowering Jack down to where the light once was. He gets down there and over to Desmond, who is still pretty upset that he’s still here and not in the Alternate world. He insists that he should be the one to put the plug back, but Jack tells him that it’s more important to get back to Penny and his son Charlie. So Jack helps Desmond to the rope and tells him he’ll see him in another life, brother. Awwwwww, *sniff*.

Sawyer and Kate finally get to Hydra and run into Claire, and Kate is trying desperately to talk Claire into coming with them. Claire tells Kate she can’t, and when Kate asks why, she shouts, “Look at me!” Awwww, ain’t nothing a shower, a bottle of deep conditioner, and a hairbrush couldn’t fix, honey. She says she doesn’t remember how to be a mother, and Kate promises that she’ll help her raise Aaron. They take off to get to the plane as fast as they can go! They get in front of the plane just before Lapidus starts down the runway that the Others made so long ago. Again, boy, I’ve thought I had close calls at airports… at least there was always the promise of another flight out in a few hours.

Jack is in pain and weak, but he slowly crawls over to the plug, picks it up, and gets it back to where it belongs, which we hope will fix everthing.

Sawyer, Kate, and Claire climb into the plane just in time and them and Richard and Miles sit down in the cabin and buckle up. Lapidus says his prayers and everyone crosses everything they can; eyes, toes, legs, fingers, arms, and Lapidus puts the plane into flight mode… AND THEY MAKE IT OFF THE GROUND!!! SDKJLDSER!!! “Amen” – Frank. Well said sir. Everyone is relieved and looking out the windows for their hopefully last look at the Island.

In the H.o.I., Jack did it right, the yellow warm light is back, and water has started flowing into the pool again. Ben and Hurley realize that Jack did it, so they start to pull on the rope, thinking Jack is at the other end of it. However they pull up Desmond, and while yeah, they’re glad to see Desmond alive, Hurley really wanted to pull up Jack, too.

In the Alternate Timeline at the Church, Locke gets out of a taxi, and the driver gets his wheelchair out for him. He sees Dr. Ben Linus, and the two talk for a moment. Ben apologizes to Locke for killing him, and told him he did it because he was jealous and wanted everything Locke had. He wanted to be special like Locke. Locke tells him he forgives him, which helps Ben out. Locke asks if he’s coming in and Ben tells him he’s going to wait a bit, and points out that Locke probably doesn’t need the wheelchair anymore. Locke gets out of it and walks over to the church doors, bidding Ben farewell.

Back at the H.o.I., Ben, Hurley, and Desmond are out of the cave, and Hurley is slowly coming to terms with the facts, Jack isn’t coming back, the Island is his responsibility now. He tells Ben he’s not sure how to take care of the Island, and Ben tells him that he should just do what he’s best at, taking care of people. He can start by sending Desmond home. Hurley thought rules were no one leaves the Island. Ben tells him that was how Jacob ran things, but he can do them differently. Hurley asks Ben to help him, he’s not sure of what to do, and he could use a Right-Hand Man who knows things about the Island. Ben says he would be honored to help. Yay, Ben is getting some good in his life.

Back at the Church, Hugo pops out to ask Ben if he’s coming in, and tells Ben that he was a great Number Two. Ben thanks him and tells him that he was a great Number One. Kate and Jack pull up to the church and Kate asks if he knows more now. He realizes this is the church where he was going to have his father’s funeral. She tells him that his father’s coffin is around back, and to take his time, they’ll all be waiting for him when he’s ready.

Back at the Island, Jack has somehow gotten out of the cave and is in the same spot that the MiB was after he fell down the cave. He wakes up stumbles off. You know that bad feeling Hurley had earlier? I have an even worse one…

At the church, Jack goes into the back room, which is decorated with many different religious symbols. He sees the coffin, and goes over to it. As he touches it, he has flashes back to the Island. This time he accepts them. When he decides to open the coffin, he finds that it’s empty… just like in Season 1! And then Christian walks in! Jack wants to know how Christian is here, since he died. Christian counters his question with basically the same one, he’s dead too. WHAAAAAA??!?!?!?!? Jack starts crying (awww, some of the last Jears ever.) and he and Christian have a moment. Christian then tells him that he is real, that what happened to him was real, and all the people in the church are real too. They’re all also dead. Some of them died before Jack did, and some of them died long after Jack. They apparently made this church together so they could all find each other. The time that they spent together on the Island was the most important part of all of their lives. Jack needed them and they needed Jack. And it’s time for all of them to move on. Jack heads into the church with Christian.

As he walks in, we have the *sniff* closing montage *sniff* Jack reuniting with everyone from the crash. Sayid, Rose, Bernard, Desmond and Penny, Claire and Charlie and Aaron, Shannon, Sawyer, Juliet, Boone, Hurley, Jin and Sun, Libby, Kate, Ilana, Locke, everyone. Well, except for Michael and Walt. And Mr. Eko. Guess they’re not ready yet either.

And as Alternate Universe Jack greets all these people, Island Jack heads back to the same bamboo grove where he woke up, past the sneaker, and lies down in the same spot where we saw him wake up all those years ago. And as we see Vincent run out of the forest and lie down next to Jack (excuse me while I sob like a baby now. Vincent makes me lose it every time.) and see the Ajira 316 plane fly overhead Jack, Jack closes his eyes for the last time, in exact opposite of the opening scene.

And as Jack dies, we see the Alternate Universe, and we see Christian walking out of the Church into the light.

And with that… for the final time:

Okay, half a second, I’ll be back with a few quick things about the finale. I need to cry first though. I’m not ashamed. LOST hits me right here every time.

Okay, back. So we now and forever know that the Island was real and the alternate reality was Purgatory. And for proof, we see scenes of the Oceanic survivors camp on the beach. And did anyone else notice that in Jacks final scene in the bamboo, he seemed to be slightly floating above the ground. Yeah, I didn’t notice that until my mom walked by while I was sobbing like a baby watching it, and she pointed it out to me. And now I’m going to give you a little funny bit from the tvgasm.com recap of the finale.

Sorry! This summer has been freaking crazy. Crazy.

All this resulted from seeing a trailer for the new A-Team movie.

So let’s start it up, and then I’ll be working on the big post for The End. *Sniff* 

So in The Candidate, we had the Alternate Reality World deal with Locke and Jack. Jack, as you recall, was the surgeon for when Locke was brought to the hospital after Desmond smacked him really hard with his car. Jack has managed to save Locke, and get a look at the damage to his spine that had him in the wheelchair in the first place. Jack thinks Locke is a candidate for a new surgery that can possibly get Locke out of his wheelchair and walking, but throughout the episode, Locke tells him that he doesn’t want the surgery. Jack is hell-bent on trying to get him to have the surgery, and finding out what happened to him that put him in the chair. He visits Locke’s dentist, Dr. Bernard Nadler, who remembers Jack from the plane, saying he flirted with his wife. It was cool to see Bernard, althought I’d prefer to see him alive and well on the Island with Rose. Bernard won’t tell him, but gives him another name in the puzzle, Anthony Cooper. Jack tracks him down to a nursing home, where he runs into Helen, Locke’s fiance. She brings him to Cooper, who is a very different man than he was in the original timeline: 

Kind of sad to see one who was such a con man turned into a vegetative state. 

Back at the hospital, Claire has tracked Jack down. She shows him the music box that their father bequeathed to her, and we see them in the mirror. Jack invites Claire to stay at his apartment, looks like he’s accepting her as his little sister, and won’t have her staying at a motel. What a brother. I guess…  Jack finds Locke as he is checking out of the hospital, passing sideways Jin on the way to Sun room. He tells Locke of his going to see his father. Locke tells him that they were in a plane crash, just days after Locke got his pilots license. His father had always had a fear of flying, but after Locke had convinced him that they would be completely safe, he went up with Locke as his first passenger. They crashed, landing Locke in his wheelchair, and Cooper in his vegetative state. Locke has always felt guilty about it. Jack tries to get him to let go of it, and help him let go of his guilt. Locke refuses the surgery one last time before leaving. And “I wish you had believed me.” is the line from Jack. A line from Locke before his death in Original time. 

In the Original line, Jin, Sun, Kate, Sawyer, Claire, Hurley, and Lapidus are all in the cages on Hydra Island with Widmore’s people guarding them. Jin and Sun talk about their baby, Ji-Yeon, and Sun gives Jin his wedding ring back. FLocke, Jack, and Sayid are on another part of Hydra, getting ready to bust the others out of the cages. Smokie attacks the cages, killing Widmore’s people, Jack runs out of the jungle and unlocks the cages for everyone, getting them out. They all run and head off in the direction of the Ajira 316 plane, thinking it’s get off the Island time. Um, guys, here’s the thing, there are still a few episodes left, and they can’t all be about running to the plane verrrry slowly, so I’m gonna go with you ain’t getting off the Island on that plane. At least not tonight. They meet up with Sayid in the jungle, and keep going to the plane. FLocke is already there, and he kills the two guards from Camp Widmore. Then finds the explosives rigged in the plane, and leaves, taking one thing of the C4. Jack and Crew get to the plane and he shows it to them, Jack agrees to help them get on the sub and leave, but he’s staying on the Island. They get there, and have their plan, with FLocke and Jack covering everyone before FLocke gets into the sub. But Sawyer and Jack have a separate plan to keep FLocke from getting onto the sub with everyone else, since they don’t trust him as far as they can throw him. Everyone runs up to the sub to get in, Sawyer getting in first, getting the captain to start the sub up for departure. Kate and her wave of people follow next, and back at the treeline, FLocke gives Jack one of the backpacks. Jack, check the bag, you both have very similar ones, and you think he wouldn’t trick you? I shouted this before I knew what happened. It’s FLocke, after all. They get up to the dock, and FLocke asks him if he’s sure he won’t change his mind and come with them. And who told him he needed to stay on the Island. Jack says John Locke told him, and then pushes FLocke into the water. And then Widmore’s team that’s still alive starts shooting at them all, and hits, yeah, we all guessed it, Kate. Jack runs over to her and gets her down in the sub, with Sayid following down. The only one left on the dock is Claire, and FLocke struggling out of the water, Sawyer sees him heading to the sub, and quickly closes the hatch, getting the captain to DIVE! leaving Claire stranded and pissed. Oh, and FLocke angry as all get out. He grabs Claire and tells her that she really doesn’t want to be on the sub. In the sub, they can’t find the first aid kit for Kate, so Jack opens his pack to find what? The C4 hooked up as a ticking bomb with the watch from one of the guards of the plane FLocke killed. Anyone else see FLocke take his watch after killing him? They all freak out until Jack says that they can’t die, just leave the bomb alone. But of course Sawyer doesn’t believe him and pulls the wires. It looks like the bomb stops, but then it speeds up. Because they can kill each other! Sayid tells Jack and Sawyer that Desmond is down a well a little ways away from where FLocke’s camp was, and it has to be them that gets him out. And then he grabs the bomb, runs, and sacrifices himself to save everyone else when the bomb goes. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! SAYID!!!! Damn, I’m tearing up again. It explodes, and RIP Sayid. We did love you. Well, except in that dark phase. Then we just weren’t sure if you’d redeem yourself. But you did by not killing Desmond. And then you died. *Sniff* Sub rocks, Lapidus runs out to see what’s wrong, and eats a big metal door that came flying at his head. Uh oh… RIP Lapidus? The sub starts filling with water where Jin, Sun, Sawyer, Kate, Hurley, and Jack are. Jack has Hurley take Kate out, giving him an air tank, because he and Sawyer are going to go help Jin get Sun out from BEHIND A CABINET AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF METAL!!!! CRAAAAAP! They struggle, and finally get the cabinet off her, but then there’s all that other metal pinning her down. CRAAAAAAAP!!!! And then Sawyer gets knocked out, so Jack has to get him out, leaving Jin and Sun. He tries to leave them with the last air canister, but Jin tells him to take it. He takes a last look at the two and then leaves. And the sub is filling, and sinking fast. CRAAAAAAP!!!! Jin keeps trying to free her, but it’s getting harder. Sun tries to get him to go, but he tells her he won’t leave her, he loves her. And there come the tears again, we all know what’s coming: 

They hold each other until death pulls them apart. Excuse me, I have to go weep and moan for the rest of the day now. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! And we see the sub sink. I’m going to hold out hope for Lapidus, but the whole door to the face and sinking sub thing doesn’t give much hope. 

Jack and Sawyer wash up on the shore, Jack checking if Saywer is alive. He is, just unconscious. Kate and Hurley come over to them, and ask where Jin and Sun are. Jack just shakes his head, and then we see Hurley and Kate start the grieving. And forgive me, but when I see this face: 

the face of Hurley as he cries, the frikkin’ waterworks start all over again for me. Dear Jorge Garcia, every time you cried on LOST, it actually made me cry. Stop making me cry by crying, dude!!! Well, except when Hurley told Claire Charlie was dead. That was not a problem for me. But congrats on getting me to cry. 

And then Jack walks over to the ocean and just starts crying “bitterly” as lostpedia puts it. And there are no dry eyes on my sofa. None. 

And then: 

LOST 

So this episode destroyed me. It was looking up for Jin and Sun, and then boom. Sayid was redeeming himself, and then, boom. So many deaths tonight. Assuming Lapidus was killed, it’s the most main character deaths on any episode of LOST. We lost a lot of Widmore’s team, Jin, Sun, Sayid, and possibly Lapidus. I wept. I bawled. And then I watched it again. And cried again. It was a sad but good episode. 

On to Across the Sea. 

Woman comes out of the water, she’s shipwrecked, and very pregnant. She stumbles through the jungle until she gets to a stream. Drinks, and then sees another woman just watching her. This woman speaks to her in Latin. And then helps her to her cave (also known as the caves, but we’ll get there later). The shipwrecked woman introduces herself as Claudia. She talks with the Mystery Island Woman, who tells her she was shipwrecked on the Island a long time ago. And then Claudia goes into labor. A baby boy is born, fair and pale and all that, and Mystery Island Woman wraps him in a white cloth, and Claudia names him Jacob. In the middle of asking to see her son, they discover there’s another baby on the way. And out comes little boy number two, who has a swath of dark hair on his head. He gets wrapped in a dark brownish black cloth and is laid next to his older brother Jacob. Claudia apparently only had one name, so looks like we have a nameless baby. And then Mystery Island Woman turns to her from admiring the two boys, and has a big rock in her hands, which she uses to kill Claudia. RIP. 

Go forward a few years and there’s a boy in black walking down the beach, and he finds a game, looks like a very early version of bacgammon (Senet). He sets it up and a fair haired boy runs over to him. Turns out it’s Jacob, and the boy in black is still apparently nameless. Yeesh, poor kid. So we now have a name for him, made up over at http://thelostdiary.com, ONOOO (!!!), O Nameless One Origianl Other. They sit to play the game and ONOOO (!!!) tells Jacob that he can’t tell their mother about the game. But when Jacob heads back to the cave, she basically picks up on it right away and gets him to tell her. She walks to the beach and tells ONOOO (!!!) he can keep the game, she left it for him, and that he’s special, different than his brother. Yeah, he doesn’t have a name. Jacob does. And she tells him they never have to worry about what dead is. Since everyone off the Island is dead, according to her. The boys are later running through the jungle chasing a boar, and out of no where another spear is thrown into the boar. The boys hide, and see some strange men come and kill the boar. They run like the devil’s chasing them back to their mother and tell her about the men. She takes them to that glowing cave and tells them that it is the reason people come to the Island. And that it’s the same cycle every time, they come, they fight, they destroy, they corrupt, and it always ends the same. But she has made it so that Jacob and ONOOO (!!!) can’t kill each other. So that was why FLocke had to get Ben to do his dirty work. They also can’t let men get into the glowing cave, which contains what is in everyone, but everyone always want more. And that they can’t ever, ever go into that cave or things will really suck for them. When she is gone, it will be up to one of them to protect it. Later, the boys are playing their game, and ONOOO (!!!) sees someone standing behind Jacob looking at him. She tells him it’s alright and not to be afraid. And when he goes to her, she tells him that she is his true mother, and his brother’s true mother, and that the woman who is raising them killed her. She also shows him the other people on the Island, who she tells him are his people. Later that night, he wakes Jacob up, and tells him that he wants him to come with him to the other side of the Island, telling him about their mother. Jacob gets angry and starts beating the crap outta ONOOO (!!!), until their mother comes in and stops it, and confirms all of what our namless little boy told Jacob. ONOOO (!!!) leaves, alone. Mystery Island Woman comes up to Jacob a little while later, when he’s sitting alone on the beach. She tells him that she really did kill their birth mother, and that she loves him, just differently than she does his brother. Yeah, Jacob, YOU HAVE A NAME! And he agrees to stay with her for a while. 

Years have passed and Jacob is now resembling Mark Pellegrino. Oops, that’s probably since Mr. Pellegrino plays grown up Jacob. Not too bad looking. Anyhow. He finishes a piece of cloth on the loom but MIW (Mystery Island Woman, I get lazy, okay.) doesn’t seem impressed, althought she claims it to be tiredness. He leaves and goes to see his brother on the other side of the Island. His brother who has grown up and is now a very good looking (yes, I have problems, he’s sort of the bad guy, I know.) as Titus Welliver. And we get to check out the arms as he pulls a rope at the well. After he sees Jacob, they head to a tent and play, yeah, you guessed it, Senet, just as they always have. ONOOO (!!!) tells Jacob that the people are a means to an end off the Island, even though they are exactly what their mother told them people were years earlier. He just wants off the Island. And that well, it has powers, it sucks a knife right to it. Hey, I recognize the knife! It’s the same one used to try and kill FLocke (unsuccessful) and Scary Sayid used to slash Dogen across the throat with all in the same episode. And the knife ONOOO (!!!) gave to Richard after he crashed on the Island to go kill Jacob, another unsuccessful attempt. It’s been around a while, I guess. And it originally was ONOOO (!!!)’s. ONOOO (!!!) yet again tries to convince Jacob to leave with him, but for Jacob, the Island always has been and always will be home, even though his brother thinks differently. Jacob goes back to the caves and tells their mother about the well and the plan. She decides it’s finally time to visit her kid. He shows her the plan, the light behind the wall, and the BIG DONKEY WHEEL!!! He came up with that idea. Which can say a lot… like maybe it was never Jacob’s idea to move the Island. Oh wait, we had that idea already. But still. She makes it seem like they’re saying goodbye, but then she decides she can’t let him leave, apologizes, and then runs his head into the wall, knocking him out. She goes back to Jacob, and takes him back to that glowing cave. She tells him that it was always supposed to be him that protects the light. And he consents to take her place, she pours some wine, murmurs something over it, and gives it to Jacob to drink. After he has she tells him that they are the same. Looks like Jacob will now know what’s up with the light. On the other side of the Island, ONOOO (!!!) is awakening from getting knocked out by mama, and sees that everything has been destroyed, the people all killed, the wells filled in and destroyed. All he finds is that game he’s had for years. And then he cries. Titus Welliver crying has not gotten me to tears, but that’s okay. Who knows, if it was something sad like Jin, Sun, and Sayid all dying at once, I’d probably cry too. But not like Hurley tears. Jacob and MIW are walking through the jungle and hear thunder. Jacob heads off to get firewood, and it seems like MIW is about to tell him she loves him, but tells him to be careful, although you could practically hear the “I love you” in her voice. She gets back to the cave to find it totally wrecked, and then ONOOO (!!!) stabs her. Just before she dies, she tells him that she loves him, and then thanks him for killing her… and then Jacob comes in, and well, let’s just say that he isn’t most pleased with his brother for killing their mother. Beats the crap out of him, and then drags him to the stream with the cave, smacks his head against the rocks to knock him out, and lets him float into the light. And then he comes out, or more like shoots out of the cave. But like this: 

Ladies and Gentlemen may I present to you, for your terror, the Smoooooooke Moooooooonster! So that’s how he came to be. 

Jacob is walking back to the caves all sad and dejected when he see’s ONOOO (!!!)’s body limp in the tree branches, kind of like the pilot was in the Pilot episode. He brings the body back to the cave and puts both his brother and his mother side by side on a wall of the cave. And then picks up a black stone and a white stone from the game, and places them in a pouch, and puts the pouch with their mother, and hey, look at that, we have found out who the Island Adam and Eve are! And we even get to see that episode where Jack and Kate found them. Forgot that Jack hid the stones from Locke. Wonder why he did that… And then: 

LOST 

I know there was a lot of dislike about this episode, but I liked it. We got some answers, and we got to see Jacob and ONOOO (!!!) grow up. Yes, the lit cave could be deemed slightly cheesy, but then again, it could have been so much worse. I’ll just take my answers where I get them, thank you. I’m going to miss this show in a few days. 

What They Died For. 

Can this really be the last episode before the Series Finale? Has this season already blown by so fast? Have the past six seasons all blown by so fast? WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END??? I predict that Sunday night I’ll be crying when the final LOST shows on the screen at the end of the finale. I don’t want it to end. All these people are excited for the finale, I’m not, it’ll be the end. I want more. And know there is no more after Sunday. Okay, depressing Kati is done for now. Let’s go! 

Great, they show me all those deaths again right there on the previously on LOST. Like we can’t remember we just saw three heartbreaking deaths. No I am not crying again, I don’t care what you say. 

In Sideways world first. And we get the iconic LOST opening shot of an eye. I’m going to miss that. And forever get excited when I see a closeup of an eye on a tv show. OMYGOD IT’S JACK! That’ll be my reaction, just you wait. Of course, this time it is Jack, sideways Jack. He heads to the bathroom, and there’s that pesky cut on his neck again. I’m no expert, but it’s looking pretty messy. And apparently David and him are doing much better, since David stayed at his house instead of with mom, and even made breakfast. Or opened a box of cereal… that is making breakfast for some, but Jack teases him. David reminds him of the concert that he’s playing in tonight, and he wants his dad there, and his mom will be there. We get to see his mom? Yes! And, just like all others who have said it, we all know it’s gonna be Juliet. Knew that the moment I saw David’s eyes. They’re Juliet blue. Then Claire comes in, since she’s staying over at Jack’s place too. Being his sister and all. She tells them the baby kicks her all night long, but she’s grinning as she says it. Odds that Claire decides to keep this baby, anyone? Jack gets a call from Oceanic, they’ve got his father’s coffin on the way to the airport. Yay. Ooooor that’s what we’re led to believe, since we now see that on the other end of the line is Desmond. Hmmmm… guess he’s tricking Jack? Or does he have someone at the airport who told him this. 

Out near Tustin in our sideways world, Locke has his van fixed, and he’s back to teaching at the school. A couple students welcome him back, and look who’s watching him from the car! Desmond. Oh great, Locke’s going to have another confrontation with that bumper. Well, unless Dr. Linus has something to say, which he does. And then Desmond beats the crap out of him. While Ben is getting beat up again (Poor Michael Emerson, he always sports bruise-like makeup on this show.) he has a flash, similar to Desmond, Charlie, and Hurley’s, of getting beat up by Desmond another time. This was when Ben went to go kill Penny in the original time, and Desmond beat him up and tossed him in the water. Desmond tells Ben that he’s not trying to hurt Locke, just trying to help him let go. And then Desmond gets in his car and drives away. Apparently someone has helped Ben up, he’s now in the nurses office (guessing it’s the same nurse who was involved with the principle Dick Thornburton… or whatever his name was, but he played Dick in Die Hard 1 & 2), she’s cleaning him up. She leaves to go get something and he looks at himself in the mirror, until Locke comes in. He tells Locke what happened, down to the flash he saw, and how he believes Desmond. Locke started to call LAPD, but put the phone away. On the other end of that phone call, at the LAPD desk, the officer puts the phone down just as Desmond is walking up, telling the officer he needs to speak with someone. In the office, Miles is getting dressed up, and James comments on it. Miles reminds him of the concert at his dad’s museum that he’s been talking about for a while, and James can still come with him if he wants. But when James finds out Charlotte is going to be there, he decideds not to go to the concert. At this point, Desmond and the desk officer come walking up, and Desmond tells James that he is the man who hit Locke, and beat the crap out of Ben. They take him back to a holding cell, and there’s Sayid and Kate, both of whom he greets with a smile on his face. He has this all planned out. 

Back at the high school, Alex runs into Ben, who is sporting a sling, and dropping his keys. She expresses concern for his getting beat up, especially since he’s “the nicest guy ever” (weird) and helps him with his stuff. She offers him a ride home, pointing out that he looks like Napolean. She asks her mom if they can give him a ride, and out of the car climbs: 

Danielle. (WEIRD!) Girl looks nice off Island. Cleaned up and everything. But it’s kind of weird. She seems pleased to meet him, and the two Rousseau women insist upon bringing Ben home to have dinner with them, even if they “have to kidnap” him. Dude, this is weird. After dinner, Alex does her homework, and Ben and Danielle clean up. Danielle remarks how happy she is to cook for someone other than Alex, and tells Ben her husband died when Alex was two. She tells him that for Alex, Ben is the closest thing she has ever had to a father. Oh, sweetie, you have noooo idea. Ben looks emotional, and looks at Alex while trying not to cry. He passes the tears off as too much onion, and Danielle says she’ll go lighter on them next time. Sweet. Okay, to kill the moment, did anyone else have the fear that Danielle and Ben were about to have a moment? Dude, that would have been so not right! But sweet. But just wrong… okay. Moving on. 

Over at St. Sebastian Hospital, Jack is working in his office, and Locke stops by, telling him about the coincidences that have happened to him recently. They were on the same flight from Sydney, he was brought to Jack’s hospital and had Jack as his surgeon, the guy who hit him was on that flight, he came back to hit him, and was only doing it to help him let go. Locke wants the surgery, he’s tired of his chair. And he’s going to dance with Artie from Glee to Safety Dance! Oops, sorry, getting my shows mixed up. Locke thinks Jack is supposed to fix him. After Jack asks him if he’s confusing coincidence with fate, Locke assures him he’s not, and it looks like Jack is going to help him. 

Back at LAPD, all of our Oceanic 815 prisoners are getting transported to County. Kate trys one last time to get James to help her, but she’s in the back of the bus to county with Des and Sayid. While they’re traveling, Desmond smiles and says that it’s time for them to leave. Sayid mentions that he’s the crazy person who turned himself in, and Des agrees that he hit a guy in a wheelchair and that he may be crazy, but this isn’t the issue. The issue is leaving. He tells them the driver will stop, but he’s going to ask the two of them to make a promise to him after he frees them. They agree, and then the van stops and the doors in the back open. And, no, it can’t be, NOT HER!!! Ana Lucia Frikkin’ Cortez opens the doors to free them. Excuse me, I have to go have a rage blackout. I can’t stand Ana Lucia. ACK!!!! She’s still her crooked cop self. Rage coming back up again. Okay, I’m calm for the moment. Just finish with her now. Hugo shows up in his yellow Hummer, gives that damn AL her money for freeing them, and then she goes away. Thank God. The rage is going down. Desmond tells Sayid to go with Hugo in the Hummer, and Desmond and Kate are going in Hugo’s Camaro, which has keys and all that they’ll need, which includes an LBD for Kate, since they’re going to a concert. You mean the same one that Jack, David, Miles, Dr. Chang, and Charlotte are going to be at? Will Mr. Eko be there, please? And off they go to escape. 

And now to what’s happing in the orignal line on the Island. Jack’s going to sew up Kates gunshot wound, in homage to their first meeting in the Pilot, where Kate sewed up Jack’s massive gash from the crash. Hey, that ryhmes. Ha. She tells him about Jin and Sun’s baby girl, Ji-Yeon. How Jin had never even met her. It’s clear everyone is still destroyed by their deaths. Yeah, me too. Kate tells Jack that they have to kill FLocke, since he did it. Sawyer and Hurley are watching debris from the sub wash up on shore, and Kate comes over to lean on Sawyer. Damn girl, make up your friggin’ mind, would you! Sawyer or Jack! There’s only one episode left, so choose already! They all watch as stuff washes up, all very sad at the loss of their friends. Then they set off to the well Des is in, because Jack knows that if FLocke wanted to kill him, they’re going to need him. While hiking, Sawyer wonders why FLocke didn’t just kill Desmond, and Jack thinks it has to do with the “rules”. Sawyer then asks if he killed Jin and Sun and Sayid, but Jack tries to tell him that it was FLocke, not Sawyer, who killed them. A little behind the two of them, Hurley sees Little Jacob standing on the path, and he demands the ashes Hurley took from Ilana’s things. Hurley takes the pouch out, and while asking Little Jacob why he wants them, Little Jacob snatches the pouch and runs off. Hurley chases him, and then runs into Jacob, sitting by a fire that has the ashes thrown in them. Apparently when the fire goes out, we’ll never see Jacob again. Guess that’ll be soon. He also tells Hurley “We are very close to the end.” Yeah, I know Jacob. You don’t have to remind me that the next episode I’ll see is the series finale. Rub salt on in that wound, why don’t ya. Later that night, Hurley gets Jack, Kate, and Sawyer to the fire, and Jacob greets them all, and they all can see him. Kate asks him about the wall with the names, and why was hers crossed out. Jacob wrote them all, and her name was just crossed out because she became a mother. But it was just a name with a line of chalk through it, Jacob tells her she can still have the job if she wants it. Yeesh, Kate, don’t get too mad. Another thing she wants to know is if Jin and Sun and Sayid died for nothing, and he tells them all that he’ll explain that. But we don’t get to see it!!! And then he adds that once the campfire burns out, there will have to be someone to replace him. And if no one chooses to, they all, along with everyone they care for, die. Happy thoughts Jacob. He explains to them what we saw last episode, the mistake he made that created the Monster. How ONOOO (!!!) has been trying to kill him since. That whoever takes over this position has to do the thing Jacob never could do, which was kill ONOOO (!!!). Jacob wants the last few candidates to have a choice, as it was the one thing he never had. They all had sad, flawed lives, and now they have a choice. They are like Jacob, but they have the choice he never did. Jack steps up and says that it is his purpose to be the new Jacob. That and a lot of fans have theorized it. Sawyer gets all snippy about Jack having a god-complex, Kate tells him to shush, and Hurley is just glad it’s not him who has to do the job. Meanwhile, Jack and Jacob talk, Jacob tells Jack about the cave that he has to protect, and apparently it’s just a little ways away from the bamboo field he woke up in the first time they crashed on the Island. Coincidence much? Jacob then starts murmurring something into the water he has cupped in his hands, similar to what his mother said over the wine. He then puts water in the cup Jack has from his bag, and gives it to Jack to drink, and when Jack is done he tells him something very similar to what his mother told him, “Now you are like me.” 

Over at the Barracks, Miles, Richard, and Ben are still on a path for C4. That’s one long hike. But, glad to see you alive. They finally get there, and Miles starts hearing those “someone dead is talking to me” noises he can hear. Apparently it’s Alex, Richard burried her after Ben left. Ben thanks him for it, and then they head into Ben’s house. It’s C4 time, boys and girls. They head to the closet, Miles makes a sarcastic remark about a secret-er room, which is actually where Ben was told he could summon the Monster. Until he learned that it was the other way around. Good to see you back Miles. Richard tells Ben to get enough C4 to blow the plane to hell. And then they hear noises from the kitchen, which turns out to be Zoe, and Charles Widmore.  He sends Zoe down to the pier to get rid of their stuff in the outrigger, after convincing Ben that killing either him or Zoe would be bad, since Widmore is apparently the Island’s last hope. After she leaves, Widmore figures out the plan to blow the plane, and tells Ben that he’s already rigged that plane with explosives, and Ben is three steps behind him, like always. He tells Ben that Jacob came to visit him, and convinced him he was on the wrong side after the freighter explosion (*Sniff* Keamy), and that’s how he got back to the Island. Of course Ben doesn’t believe that Widmore saw Jacob, but he insists. Before he can explain too much more, Zoe radios in saying FLocke is at the dock and has seen the outrigger, but not her. Widmore tells her to come back right away, and everyone else that they should hide. 

At the dock, FLocke sees the outrigger packed with Widmore equipment, and starts heading to the Barracks. At Ben’s house, Zoe gets back, and her and Widmore hide in Ben’s closet, while Miles hauls off to the jungle and Richard and Ben go outside to meet FLocke. Ben demands Widmore’s walkie-talkie, not sure what for. Once outside, Richard and Ben hear the sounds of Smokie, and all of the sudden, bam! Richard just got Smokie smacked. Guess he’s not a line to ONOOO (!!!) anymore… Ben calmly sits on the porch to wait for FLocke to come, and when he does, he offers him some lemonade. Gotta love calm Ben. FLocke has some people he needs Ben to kill again, and he also wants to know whose stuff was in the outrigger down at the dock. Ben does a good old roll-over on Widmore and tells FLocke it was Widmore’s stuff and he is hiding in the closet. Oh, Evil Ben, how I have missed you! They go in and FLocke heads to the closet, telling Ben he should wait outside, but Ben wants to see what happens, so he stays. They go in, Ben gives a very non-apologetic “Sorry Charles”, we all are very happy to hear that one. FLocke asks Zoe who she is, and then after Charles tells her not to speak to him, he slashes her throat. RIP Zoe. He then threatens Widmore to either tell him why he brought Desmond back to the Island, or FLocke will kill Penny and Charlie. Ouch. Widmore prefers to tell FLocke without Ben listening, so Ben looks to be leaving the closet, Widmore tells FLocke it is because of Desmonds resistance to electromagnetic energy and he is a measure of last resort. After whispering this in FLocke’s ear, he is shot three times in the chest by Ben, who says “He doesn’t get to save his daughter.” Of course, he already has, since he told FLocke what he needed. Ben then asks about the other people that FLocke wanted him to kill, and FLocke gives him a “gloating look” (according to lostpedia). 

And finally, at the Well. FLocke and Ben see that Desmond is no longer in the well, and FLocke says that someone actually helped him out, not just Desmond. He tells Ben that Desmond was a failsafe in case someone managed to kill the “precious candidates”, Desmond was the last way to keep FLocke on the Island. And that he is going to find Desmond and have him destroy the Island. And then 

LOST 

I liked the episode. Minus the fact that this was the last one before the Finale. We all were right that Jack was going to fill in for Jacob, at least for some time he will be. We see Ben back to his old self again, something that we really haven’t seen much of since the death of Alex. But what about Miles and Richard? ARE THEY OKAY?! Did Miles get one of the walkie-talkies. Is Richard no longer invincible? How will it all end next week? And did we have to see Ana Lucia again? I mean, really. Gack. She’s worse than Charlie, save only that Charlie took waaaay longer to die. 

Well, the next recap post will be the last one for a new episode. I discovered that I left off the old season recaps on The House of the Rising Sun, so starting in June, when I start rewatching from Season 1, once I get to the episode The Moth, I’ll be doing more recaps. Just because.
